The new patrol vehicles will be driven by Female Officers during the day shift and by Male Officers at night.
The Ajman Police on Sunday kick-started the operations of its all-new tourist patrols, now serving visitors around the key landmarks and attractions of the emirate.
Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, on Saturday introduced the latest addition to the Ajman Police’s patrol department, aimed at fighting crime, reducing accidents and ensuring safety, a top official said.
Operating round the clock, the new patrol vehicles will be driven by female officers during the day shift and by male officers at night.
They will be deployed to tourist hotspots to curb various violations and provide visitors with any assistance they may need, from receiving complaints to entertaining inquiries about various archaeological sites.
They will also be patrolling places where several hotels and historical sites are located.
Major-General Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said the launch of the patrols is a step towards creating a safe environment for the increasing number of tourists and facilities in the emirate.
It is part of the strategy to bolster the emirate’s tourism industry and make sure that visitors get to enjoy their Ajman holiday, he added.
