What is Makani Number?
Makani Number is the official geographic addressing system adopted in the Emirates of Dubai, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah & Ras Al Khaimah.
Dubai is the first city in the world to use numbers called “Makani Number” to exactly locating the building’s entrance(s). Simple addressing consists of 10 digits only (E.g. 30032 95320) which doesn’t require using names, codes or explaining the location’s direction. Mentioning only numbers for describing location suits multi-nationalities with different languages in the U.A.E.
How To Use Makani Number?
Suppose you need an internet connection or want to apply for landline, you can easily provide the Makani Number reference to exactly pin-point the building location. In-Case of any emergency that requires an ambulance. The ambulance driver may ask you for your Makani coordinates and all you have to do is to give the ten-digit unique code of your building. With the help of the Makani app, they will be directed via GPS to the specified location. If you have a sticker with the code, place it somewhere easy to be seen. When the code is for a building you live in, take a picture of the code, or write it down on a piece of paper.
Makani – The Mobile App
The Makani App which is available in the Appstore and GooglePlay helps you find the code of your location. The application is also available as a website. The user can type the name of the building or location in the search bar, and click on the desired result to find out the coordinates of a destination. Another option is to zoom in on the map to locate the building.
