More than 30 experts from around the world flew in for the ninth edition of the Ajman International Urban Planning Conference, which kicked off on October 29 with a slogan “Towards Geospatial Cities“.
In the three days event, addressing the Press conference, Mohammed Ahmed bin Omeir Al Muhairi, executive director of the infrastructure development sector, said: “The conference shall support Ajman’s vision of creating a happy society and building a green economy“.
In accordance with the direction of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid al-Nuaimi, Member of Supreme Council, The Ruler of Emirate of Ajman, and in alignment with “Ajman 2021 Vision” that focuses on A happy society contributing in building a green economy backed by a distinguished government in harmony with the Spirit of the Union
The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Ajman Government Officials from various departments.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
- To highlight the contribution Ajman Emirate in the geospatial communities on national, regional as well as international levels.
- To highlight the role of spatial information systems in city planning and improving the decision making toward achieving Ajman vision 2021.
- To exchange experiences, transfer knowledge, present and discuss best practices of GIS in cities and foreseen the future of the GIS technologies.
- To discuss spatial technical solutions that support smart cities and artificial intelligence.
It also discussed the applications of geographic information systems in smart cities as well as using artificial intelligence in urban planning. Dr. Al Muhairi added that the conference will also tackle the best GIS practices in cities, predict the future of GIS technologies, and explore geospatial technology solutions.
