A maid was injured as a gas cylinder leak triggered an explosion in Ajman. As the maid switched on a light, the explosion tore through the kitchen in Al Raqeeb area.
On being notified about the incident, a civil defence team rushed to the area and found that the explosion did not result in a fire. The maid was rushed to the Sheikh Khaifa Hospital, where her condition is said to be stable.
According to photos released by the civil defense, the walls of the kitchen collapsed in the explosion, but the roof remained intact.
Brigadier Mohammed Ali Al Suwaidi, Director of the Civil Defence Centres, called on house owners to teach their maids what to do when they detect a leak.
